End of the year activities

Only 3 more of weeks of school to go! We are almost first graders! Kindergarten is planning on having a fun end of the year party for the students. We will have a water play day. Please send students to school with a swim suit underneath their clothes and or an extra change of clothes. If the student is not dressed appropriately they will not be allowed to participate. Please also provide your child with a towel. Please apply sun block before your child leaves to school. We also ask that if possible you send in any special treats for our end of the year celebration. The last day of school we will also allow students to wear appropriate pajamas for our " Pajama Party"! Please look for more information in your child's folder. Getting close!

Your child is almost a first grader! I wanted to remind you of a few things coming soon. First and most importantly the ITBS test will be next week, April 23-27th. Please make sure your child arrives on time. He or she will not be allowed to take the test if they do not arrive on time. They will have to make up the test the next week. Please look in your child's folder this week for practice worksheets for the ITBS. Please help your child review these. Kindergarten Orientation is May 10th if you have a child ready for kindergarten please try to attend this. It will be at 5:30 pm. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.

Homework/ class update

Please make sure your child is completing their homework each night. Each subject area is becoming more and more challenging. Students will need to continue with best efforts. It is a great idea to review numbers 1-20. Students must be able to write,draw, and model these numbers. Please continue to practice letters/sounds and sight words. Winter Carnival/ Holiday Celebration

The winter carnival will take place on December 2nd. You are welcome to join us that day from 9:00-11:00. Advance ticket money is due on Thursday, December 1st. On December 20th our class will be having a holiday celebration. This celebration will be polar express theme. Children will be allowed to wear their favorite pajamas to school. Please make sure they wear proper shoe attire. Homework Expectations

Please review letters and sounds daily with your child. It is also helpful if you practice writing numbers 1-20 daily. Please encourage students to do their homework on their own. As parents you may guide or help read directions to them. Each time you see a paper decodable book in your child's folder, encourage them to practice reading it to you. These books contain sight words that your child must know before entering first grade. Keep up the good work parents! Read! Read! Read!

Tallahassee Museum Field Trip

The field trip is October 27, 2011. Please have all money and forms turned in by Friday October 21, 2011. The cost is $5 for students and $7.50 for adults. It is $7.50 even if you decide to drive on your own. Students will be provided with a packed lunch from the cafeteria.
